Keynote speakers

Alexander Wolf is head of the Generative Design Lab, a research unit at the Institute of Structural Mechanics and Design. After studying architecture, his experience in CAD, CAM and Generative Design led him to write a PhD thesis on applied additively manufactured ceramics at TU Darmstadt’s faculty of civil engineering, as well as the University of Minho in Guimaraes, Portugal. Besides that, he investigated the topic of paper as a building material throughout multiple research projects and is and co-publisher of the blog Facadeworld. Being a registered architect in Germany, Alex is also active in smaller residential building projects together with his wife at their office studio5a.

 

Camilla Pandolfi, CEO and Chief of Research at Pnat, has over 20 years of experience in plant physiology, biomimetics, and ecophysiology. She integrates scientific expertise with technological innovation, focusing on IoT applications and nature-inspired solutions. Her work advances PNAT’s mission to create practical responses to environmental challenges. Camilla holds a PhD in Plant Physiology from the University of Florence, where she teaches courses that attract a wide range of professionals, from architects to botanists, interested in breaking disciplinary boundaries. Her international career includes research at the European Space Agency, applying biomimetic principles to space exploration, and climate change studies in Australia. Author of over 50 scientific publications, she has received prestigious accolades, including the Marie Curie Fellowship and the Endeavour Research Award, recognizing her contributions to science and innovation.

 

Paola Galgani, after an experience as an Assessor at the Municipality of Certaldo, began her trade union career within the Cgil in 2003, first as a manager of Filea and subsequently as a member of the Metropolitan Secretariat of Florence.
From 2015 to 2023, she was the General Secretary of the Metropolitan Chamber of Labour of Florence.
Since 2024, she has been the Deputy Mayor of Florence and Assessor for Environment, Urban Agriculture, and Animal Care.

 

Victoria Roznowski is a PhD researcher at ETH Zurich’s Chair of Digital Building Technologies, focusing on hollow-core 3D printing for architectural applications. As founder of Addit Studio, she works across materials and scales, developing computational strategies for clay, concrete, and polymer 3D printing. She received first prize in ICON’s Initiative 99 competition for her accessible 3D-printed housing concept.
Séréna Vanbutsele is an architect and urban planner. She is the head of the TRANSFORM research institute at HEIA-FR and is involved in teaching the Joint Master of Arts in Architecture in Fribourg (Switzerland). Her expertise lies at the intersection of architecture, urban planning, and landscaping. She develops interdisciplinary projects to analyze the urban pressure exerted on highly coveted spaces, such as urban wastelands, informal (green) spaces, and spaces of spontaneous urban natural.
